there been alot of rumors that amir is going to sign a contract for close to 10m, it seems quite strange for a player who only played less than 20 nba games.

If he is signed do u think he will get minutes this year?? or do you think he still be in the d-league and dumars is doing this so noone dare match the contract.

Although personally i think he could be a star but it a risk for a player who hasnt played alot in the nba

I do think he deserves it.  In those games he is averaging over 5 points and is still very young (he came out of High School).  He can and will be a very good player in this league.  I envision Webber leaving and the Pistons trading Mohammed.  You still have a very good core of big men with Wallace, McDyess, Maxiell, and Johnson, and Dale Davis is a free agent if you want another big body to throw around (mainly at Shaq).  The Pistons could probably lock him up for less money (mind you, none of this is official yet) but still, Amir will be a great player.  I seriously think he has more potential than Darko.  In his limited minutes with the Pistons he has produced way better numbers and I envision him and Maxiell starting at the C and PF for many years to come.  They WILL be a force to reckon with.  The future of this team is unlimited.

Future Starting Lineup:

C Amir Johnson
PF Jason Maxiell
SF Tayshaun Prince (if you consider him the future, if not Sammy Mejia)
SG Rodney Stuckey
PG Arron Afflalo

Amir can not play the 5. He is going to get bullied down there.  Joe only offered such a high contract because of teams like the Spurs and Rockets getting interested in amir's potential.

Future starting line up:

C Samb
PF Maxiell
SF Amir
SG Afflalo
PG Stuckey

If we are talking in terms of the future, yes.

Tayshaun is 27, but he's not slowing down yet while Amir is 20 years old.

Samb
Max 24 years old
Amir 20
Afflalo 22
Stuckey 21

I had heard that had he gone to college and entered the draft this year he would have been a top 10 pick so how much more is this contract than the rookie contract he would have gotten

He is 6'11", and he can play the 3, 4 & 5.  He needs to bulk up more to play center and now that Cheick Samb is signed, he'll be playing the 3.  Actually he's not a half bad three-point-shooter.

If any of the above mentioned lineups is our future lineup then we are in serious trouble.  Maybe, they could be the core of the bench IF they develop.  The thought of Afflalo and Samb even getting quality minutes off the bench is a scary thought thought to me.  If it were to happen down the line I don't see how we wouldn't be a perennial lottery team.

However, I have bought into the hype on Stuckey.  Hopefully he can develop into an offensive force off the bench immediately spelling both guard spots and take over 4 yrs down the line.
